Friday day 5

This morning we were told that we had to wake up very early. I was not very excited, but I wanted to start my day off right and trying to get up early. I was able to be one of the first students to get some cereal. We left the campsite at 7:00am, because we wanted to get to work early. We put up a sign to show that there was a main trail that had been hiding from the public. When doing that I helped in digging the holes for the sign. It was about a good 80 degrees. But it was some very hard work. I really missed the feeling of some really hard labor. Also we cleaned some trails, by this I mean cutting the branches that covered the trail. We were told that anything in arms lengths must be cut. After we got very sweaty and tired. Park rangers had us eat lunch near a lake called blue lagoon lake. This was one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever been to. The lake was very cold by the way. Yes we went swimming. Just up the little stream of the lake was the main water way for the whole mountain. So that means, that water had just fell off of the mountain tops. After we ate lunch the three groups had split up.  The muscles of the group which was me. Were asks to go assist the park ranger in lifting those metal fire pits from the campsites. The ranger had told us that people moved them too close to the river. This affected the de schuttes river because the glass and other garbage that was thrown in the pit was affecting the soil and deposits that were seeking through the soil and into the river. This could affect the temperature of the water because the plastic magnifies through the garbage and heats the water temperature up. Those fire pits weighed about 200 pounds of metal. After lunch we loaded 4 of the pits on the truck. That was the end of our work day, and we headed back to camp. When we got back, we showered up and ate some really good tacos made by the heritages college students. Then the best thing part of the night is when we sat around the fir and roasted marshmallows. which by the way was very fun.
