Day 2 Tuesday

In the morning we woke up and had a wonderful bowl of frosted flakes. Then we had to meet up with the wildlife and fisheries head people to plan out today's schedule. Austin Smith was on of the warm springs wildlife employees. He had explained to us how he takes care of the endangered species. I had learned that mule deer in warm springs are on the decline. They also track important animals with a tracking device that goes around the animals neck. Austin is a student at OSU, and plans to do what ever he can to save the animals that his ancestors had hunted. A on reservation biologist named Jason Grant was there to assist us on looking at the different habitats. I the small river of shit-Ike, his team and engineers had done their best to preserve the salmon habitat that would dry up in the summer. Also to try and bring back the salmon population. Coho salmon has been discovered in the stream after they had resorted the river to assist the salmon specie's need to survive. Also he shared to us what their plans were to fix the pile of rock that had changed to river flowing there. The mill creek river was so damaged that none of the salmon were going back to that part of the river to spawn. This affects the salmon population because if non of the salmon return then the population will diminish.  What Austin and Jason's main jobs are to preserve the natural resources that salmon and other endangered species around the warm springs area . Doing this will create a better opportunity to save our natural resources that are around warm springs.
